    EFTS Tutoring Rules

To maximize the effectiveness of the tutoring session, the tutor and student must read and discuss the following information carefully at the beginning of the first tutoring session. Both the student and the tutor has important responsibilities which will enable the tutoring session to address the student’s specific needs. A clear understanding of the responsibilities involved in tutoring is the first step toward a successful tutoring experience.

    Goals of Tutoring:

    • To assist students in becoming independent learners
    • To identify students’ area(s) of concern
    • To refer students to effective study skills techniques
    • To assist students in reaching a higher level in a particular subject area
    • To assist students in becoming active in the learning process
    • To aid in the development of a positive approach toward learning
    • To provide a supportive and encouraging environment where learning takes place at the students’ pace

The Goals of Tutoring Are Reached By:

    • Engaging students in a discussion about what they know about a particular subject area
    • Helping students determine what they don’t know about a particular subject area
    • Asking students questions to help transfer knowledge into long-term memory
    • Creating opportunities for students to practice what they are learning by providing mini-quizzes or creating / accessing practice problems or informal assessments
    • Reviewing notes, homework assignments, projects, quizzes, tests and exams, etc. to identify strengths and weaknesses
    • Reviewing teachers comments on papers and other assignments to be sure students know how best to use this feedback

The Goals of Tutoring Are Not Reached By:

    • Academic dishonesty
    • Not being prepared for a session (mentally and emotionally)
    • Completion of a student’s homework assignment, project, quiz, test, exam, etc. by a tutor
    • Cheating of any kind

    Student Responsibilities:

    • Attend school consistently
    • Attending all scheduled tutoring sessions
    • Arriving on time to all scheduled tutoring sessions
    • Contacting the tutor no less than 6 hours in advance if unable to attend a scheduled session. If contact is not made within this time, a session may be forfeited (Subject to management approval)

    Cancellations by Tutor

As a company, one of our commitments to clients is consistency. Consistency is a key component in seeing our student’s flourish. In order to uphold our standard of service, new policies for tutors regarding session notes and cancelled sessions have been developed.

Each tutor is allowed one "excused absence" per month of contract over the course of the entire contract.

    Example(s)

1 month contract = 1 excused missed session

3 month contract = 3 excused missed sessions

Each tutor will also receive one (1) additional excused absence that may be used at leisure for pre-planned absences and/or emergencies.

Once the maximum amount of absences has been reached, clients can be reimbursed as a courtesy for a tutor not upholding our value of consistency.

Not to exceed $5 per absence

    Late Pick-Up

EFTS understands emergencies and rare occurrences may cause a parent/guardian to be late when picking up his and/or her child from a session. Safety is of the utmost importance to us and we will remain with scholars until a parent, guardian or emergency contact picks up the child. We also like to ensure a smooth and safe operation as our company is mobile and we have to include travel time in our tutor’s schedules, enough so they can arrive safe and sound to their next session. Effective immediately, parents who are late picking up a child from a session will be charged a “pick-up” fee. The fees are as follows:

    Minutes

    Fee

    5 minutes

    Grace Period

    6-9 minutes

    $5.00

    10 minutes or more

$15.00 plus $1 per additional minute

    Credit Card Processing

Effective December 1st, 2022, all transactions completed with a credit card via Square or Cash App will have a 4% convenience fee. This fee will appear on your invoice and will be included in any down payments, monthly payments or bi-weekly payments. Clients will have the option to avoid this fee by paying by cash. We no longer accept checks or money orders.

If a client opts to mail a check or money order, it must arrive on or before the due date or it may be subject to the $30 late fee.

    Late Payments

Each week, payment reminders are sent out as a courtesy. Payments not received on the scheduled due date, are subject to a $30 late fee.

If payments are not received within 5 days of the original due date a $50 late fee will apply. Any payments that exceed the due date more than 5 business days, services will be placed on hold until the full amount is remitted.

Thank you for your continued patronage and partnering with Essential Foundations to meet your child’s academic needs. We appreciate your patronage. Your child's safety, academic success is at the forefront of what we do. In order to run a seamless and safe operation, these policies have been placed into effect.

    Refund Policy

All sales are final. All sessions will be completed within the selected contract time. Tutoring hours/sessions do not expire and can be used at any time.
