Project Application

Thank you for your interest in a crowdfunding project through IMPACT Montclair State!

Applications will be reviewed for approval. We are looking for compelling stories, dedicated campus partners, and individuals that aren't afraid to ask for money. There are a limited number of spots available per month and we want projects that show the most potential for success.

This application will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. If you are unable to complete this in one session, simply submit your form and you will receive an email notification with a link to return and edit. Select the option that you "need more time" toward the bottom of the application.

Crowdfunding projects get approximately 30 days (1 month) to fundraise. In which time slot were you interested in crowdfunding? Note: Your actual start date will be a few days prior for a "soft" launch and expect to spend 4-6 weeks prior to your launch developing materials and an outreach strategy. Please note - your selection does not guarantee you a spot during the desired cycle.
Setting a realistic goal is important!

Most projects are able to raise $5,000 or less. The majority of donors will come from your family, friends, and other personal networks. Do you know enough people that will donate to your project to reach your goal? The larger the team and the larger the networks, the more money you will be able to raise. Remember, it is important to set a realistic goal so that your campaign is successful. Start with the lowest goal possible - you can always add in stretch goals later.

Who else is on your team to help create and promote your project?
The more people on your team, the more likely your project will be successful.
Have you ever fundraised or crowdfunded before? If so, how did it go?
Expect to dedicate 3 hours of work each week leading up to the campaign and during. Can you commit to this time?
Which social media platforms are you and your team active on and how many friends/followers do you have for each?
Are you comfortable with asking others for donations? If you are not comfortable, you will not reach your goal.
Are you willing to solicit your friends and family for donations? The majority of your donations will come from your personal networks.
What challenges do you anticipate that you will encounter setting up your project page or while you are fundraising?
Would you and your team be willing to send emails to personally thank your donors?
Pitch your project. Use this space to summarize your project - who are you, what are you raising money for, and why should donors support your project? What impact will your project have? Why is it important? How will you be successful?
