  • PFBR GUIDELINES, RESPONSIBILITIES, and RELEASE OF LIABILITY 

    1|  FOSTER AGREES TO: 

    • Care and love ANY foster dog provided by PFBR as if it were my own;
    • Provide the dog with exercise, basic obedience training and house training; 
    • Bring the dog to at least one PFBR adoption events each month. 

    2|  SPAY/NEUTER & VACCINATIONS

    • FOSTER understands that all dogs placed in foster care need to be spayed/neutered and vaccinated. If an unaltered dog is received, PFBR may request that FOSTER schedule an appointment with a disignated PFBR veterinarian and assist in transporting the dog to and from the appointment. If FOSTER cannot to the transport the dog, FOSTER can request for PFBR to arrange. 
    • FOSTER understands that NO dog can be adopted before being spayed/neutered. 

    3|  EXPENSES COVERED BY PFBR

    • FOSTER understands that all basic medical expenses for each dog will be covered by PFBR, provided that PFBR has PRE-APPROVED the expenses, and the care is provided by a designated vetinerian selected by PFBR. 
    • FOSTER understands that if a non-authorized vetinerian is visited by the dog, the FOSTER may be responsible for the vet bill. 
    • PFBR will provide tags/chip, initial food, treats, toys, and bedding for each dog. If a crate is needed, PFBR will lend to FOSTER. Any other items provided by FOSTER is considered a donation and can be tax deductible per IRS requirements as PFBR is an approved 501c(3). 

    4|  SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS  

    • FOSTER agrees to take photos of the foster dog and will post updates on foster's Instagram page and FaceBook at least every (2) days to help the foster get adopted. 

    5|  ADOPTION/TRANSFER

    • FOSTER understands that any potential adopter MUST be screened (including a home visit), interviewed and approved by an authorized PFBR representative.
    • FOSTER understands that their input will be considered and part of the process. The final decision to place or not place with potential adopter will be made by an authorized PFBR representative. 
    • FOSTER agrees to receive direct inquiries by potential adopters via phone or email, and agrees to send copies of all inquiries to a PFBR authorized representative. 

    6|  PROTOCOL WITH CHILDREN 

    • DO NOT under any circumstand leave a child unattended with any foster dog
    • DO NOT leave bones or treats when children are present and be cautous and observant when children are eating and the pet is in the room
    • If there is a child in the household under the age of 5, the dog must be in a crate or in a separate room while the dog is eating or sleeping to prevent accidents
    • NO child under the age of 18 can walk the dog alone. An adult must be present during the walk.
    • Whenever a child is in the house with a dog, the child is at risk of being accidentally knocked over, scratched or bitten (even if a play bite)
    • Should you have ANY concerns or feel uncomfortable with a situation between the pet and the child, immediately contact a PFBR representative. PFBR will take the pet out of your home.

    7|  CO-EXISTING DOGS & CATS

    • PFBR understands that even if the foster dog has been housed with dogs or cats previously, PFBR CANNOT guarantee the behavior with a new dog(s) or cat(s) will be the same. 
    • PFBR requires that the foster dog remains separate from other existing pets for the minimum of 14 days to allow for decompression and healing of the dog. Consult with a PFBR representative if behavioral training is required for the foster based on interactions with existing pets. 
    • NEVER leave multiple pets unattended in the same room.
    • Do not feed pets in the same room or leave unattended toys/treats laying around the house.
    • If you need assistance with an introduction to existing pets, contact PFBR representative who will assist in introductions. 

    8|  GENERAL AGREEMENTS

    FOSTER DOG SAFETY 

    • FOSTER understands that PFBR tag/ID must be worn on the dog's collar at all times, because it links back to PFBR if the dog was to get lost. If the dog loses their tag FOSTER agrees to contact PFBR immediately.
    • FOSTER agrees to keep each foster dog that comes into their care on a leash when outside the home or outside their home's secure fence.
    • FOSTER understands and agrees that NO foster dog that comes into care will be allowed to run or play off-leash in a dog park or other open public area, including doggy daycare facilities.
    • FOSTER understands and agrees that FOSTER is responsible for the safety of each foster dog that comes into my care, for the safety of other pets and people the foster dog comes into contact with.
    • FOSTER agrees to immediately notify PFBR contact in the event of a missing or injured foster dog.

    VETINERIAN APPOINTMENTS

    • FOSTER agrees to request pre-approval for any vetinerian visits and review the proposed charges with PFBR prior to checking out of the appointment.

    FOSTER-FAIL - FOSTER DECIDES TO ADOPT

    • FOSTER understands that if foster decides to adopt the dog under care, the FOSTER must go through the adoption process, including paying the requested adoption donation. 

    FOSTER DOG NEEDS TO BE RE-HOMED

    • FOSTER understands that if the foster needs to return the dog to PFBR's care, for any reason, the FOSTER must provide sufficient time (typically 30 days notice) for PFBR to locate another foster home. PFBR will begin searching for a new fost once notified by the current foster.
    • PFBR retains the right to remove a foster dog from foster's care at any time. 

    This document provides for the release of liability of Pibbles & Fam Bam Rescue and its volunteers on account of the actions of any dog of any breed, which has been released into the ownership of P&FBR and placed into the care of a Foster Care Provider ("any foster dog").

    FOSTER understand that PFBR and its volunteers cannot guarantee actions or disposition of any fostered dog placed into Foster Care with FOSTER. FOSTER understands that although reasonable effort has been made to assess the disposition of each dog released to PFBR beforehand but, being living animals, they may act unpredicatbly in any given situation, and that FOSTER must take necessary precautions to prevent accidents and guard against unpredicted actions by any fostered dog under foster care. 

    FOSTER promises to take adequate care of any fostered dog under the foster's care by providing nutritious food, plentiful water, and adequate shleter, as well as control of external parasites (fleas/ticks). 

    FOSTER promises to notify PFBR if any fostered dog under the foster's care is in need of veterinarian care such as vaccinations, routine testing, and refill of heartworm preventitive or treatment for illness. At no time will the foster allow any foster dog to be a nuisance to people or other dogs.

    FOSTER promises to keep any fostered dog under foster's care in a fenced yard or kennel. Foster will NOT keep the fostered dog unaccompanied outside during spring/summer heat, rather fostered dog will be kept safely confined inside where it is cool. 

    FOSTER promises that at NO time will a foster dog be placed outside on a tie-out (in a yard, in front of a store/restaurant, etc.)
