  • Program Overview

CGC's Foster Farming Project presents harvesting and distribution services to: Upcountry, Central, South, and the North Shore of Maui. Landowners have the opportunity to donate or sell their produce. Donated produce will be distributed to organizations who work with food insecure individuals. Sold produce will be sold to local organizations to push out imports, or purchased by our organization to be donated. We come equipped with fruit pickers, a 10 foot orchard ladder, 5-gallon buckets, and a positive attitude (other tools such as sawsal, clippers, pole saw, used as required). Thank you for inquiring about an opportunity to save surplus produce from going to waste and get it out to our community. Our team will be in contact regarding scheduling.
  • Donation and Selling Process

Clients who donate produce will receive a tax deductible donation receipt in the mail, and harvesting services will be free of charge. Donated produce will go to community organizations that work to get healthy produce to food insecure individuals and our local community. Some organizations we work with (but are not limited to) include: Ka Hale a ke Ola Homeless Shelter, Feed My Sheep, Maui Food Bank, Malama i ke Ola Health Clinic, Paia Youth and Cultural Center, Women Helping Women, Chilis on Wheels, and many more. Clients who sell produce will receive a purchase order in the mail. A 40% service charge for the continuation of our Foster Farming program will be applied, so clients receive 60% of the total sale of produce. Examples of some of our business connections include Local Harvest, Okoa Farm, Kamehameha Schools Maui, R.I.P.E Juice Bar, The Traveling Plum, and many more. Sales of produce will be dependent on the market and/or quality of the produce.
  • Scheduling

Due to the nature of the project, which includes harvesting trees that vary in size and efforts, appointment times will vary. We will reach out to your preferred point of contact. Our typical harvest schedule runs Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday arriving at 9:30 A.M.-10:30 A.M. weekly. However, we are flexible and work with each client to find the best harvest availability. You do not need to be onsite for us to harvest, but we like to get to know our clients and their property upon meeting to harvest effectively and answer any questions.
  • What is needed from you

Please fill out the short form below (~5 minutes) and you will be contacted by our Harvest Manager for scheduling. On the day of harvest, please allow our team to be granted access to the property, have best loading areas for harvesting available, and any animals be secured for both their safety and ours. Please be sure that harvesting areas are free of obstacles that may pose a threat or hinder the ability to harvest. Trees that are beyond our reach or safety may only be partially harvested.
