About this position..
This position requires human relationship skills in working cooperatively and symbiotically with staff, volunteers, interns, visitors, support organizations and outside interests. The position also requires biological/technical skills in the area of captive animal management/husbandry. It is necessary to be able to interpret and absorb technical literature that relates to the health and management of captive animals. Knowledge of basic biology, and experience with the care, handling, training and treatment of birds of prey are required and/or preferred (but employees will be trained according to AEF requirements/standards/protocols). You will be required to assist in maintenance of bird enclosures and equipment. A traffic violation free drivers license is required. A criminal background check may be required. Must be in good mental and physical condition to do attentive and rigorous work, including being able to lift at least 30 lbs. when necessary during course of daily work. Public speaking and education is preferred, must be comfortable speaking in front of large audiences.
