About the Call:
Two works will be selected, one each in the categories of acoustic and electronic composition, and presented at the Praecepta Spring Concert at 8:00pm (Eastern) on April 21, 2020 at Bowling Green State University’s Bryan Recital Hall. Praecepta will provide an audio and video recording of the selected works, and will also live stream the event.
Selected composers will be expected to provide professional performance materials by March 10 , 2020. Although a stipend for travel and lodging cannot be provided, the selected composers are encouraged (but not required) to attend the performance. If the selected composers choose to attend the concert, Praecepta will assist with travel arrangements to and from either Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) or Toledo Express Airport (TOL). There are several reasonably priced hotels near the BGSU campus and Praecepta can offer documentation that might assist those seeking funding from institutions or outside sources.
Composers of all nationalities are encouraged to apply. There is no entry fee, no age limit, and works may have been previously performed (detailed guidelines below). Composers who graduated from Bowling Green State University after the year 2013 are not eligible to apply.
A panel consisting of members of Praecepta will evaluate the pieces and choose the winning entries.
All applications must be completed and received by December 31, 2019. The winning entries will be announced by March 1, 2020.
Submissions will be handled by a third party. For questions and information, please write to: mlaurel@bgsu.edu.
