    Thrive Scholarship

    The Thrive Scholarship was established by the Phil Jenkin Foundation to support students and reduce barriers for students pursuing a degree at Eastern Michigan University. 

    Priority is given to students who demonstrate the following:

    • Demonstrate financial need through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
    • Students returning to complete an undergraduate degree

    Essay
    Prepare an essay with proper format, grammar, and mechanics as it is taken into consideration during the application review process. Essay Rubric

    Write an essay (500-word maximum) and include the following:

    • Describe your academic goals.
    • Describe barriers, if any, to persistence.
    • Respond to one of the following prompts: 
      • How will this scholarship help you?
      • How have you contributed to your community?
      • How has mentorship impacted you along your collegiate journey?

    Road to Completion Scholarship

    The Road to Completion Scholarship awards eligible students up to $5,000 for one academic year. Applicants must have a minimum of 95 undergraduate credits earned. Additionally, students must meet the following criteria:

    • Graduated from a high school located in the city of Detroit or reside in the city of Detroit
    • Senior standing, graduating within two semesters
    • Be in good academic standing

    Priority is given to students who demonstrate the following:

    • Demonstrate financial need through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
    • Students returning to complete an undergraduate degree
    • Students with a cumulative GPA of 2.0–3.0 GPA (who typically do not qualify for merit-based aid)

    Write an essay (500-word maximum) outlining the following:

    • how the city of Detroit has made an impact on you;
    • how you plan to make an impact on the city of Detroit; and
    • your career and personal goals.

    Stancroff Springer Scholarship

    The Stancroff Springer Scholarship was established to support students participating in Academic Success Partnerships programs. The scholarship was designed to reduce financial barriers for students near graduation and increase the number of students who graduate from Eastern Michigan University. Students must meet the following criteria:

    • Have a minimum of 95 undergraduate credits earned
    • Senior standing, graduating within two semesters

    Priority is given to students who demonstrate the following:

    • MAGIC program participants
    • Demonstrate financial need through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
    • Students returning to complete an undergraduate degree
