  • ACT Event Scholarship Program

    ACT is dedicated to supporting community programs by providing low or no-cost venue usage through its scholarship program. Eligible non-profit organizations will meet one of the following qualifications:

    • Aligned with ACT's Mission (theatre groups and arts organizations)
    • Community Service Organizations
    • Organizations focused on creating Inclusive, Equitable, and Diverse Services

    Scholarship Types

    ACT offers two types of scholarships. Each scholarship type has unique features, so please read carefully to decide what is best for your organization. Organizations are eligible for one scholarship per calendar year. Scholarships may not be used for fundraising or performance events.

    Full Scholarship

    Venue is free and no labor provided – 5 available per year

    • Scholarship applicable for up to 5 Event Dates
    • Event limited to ACT staff hours (Monday - Friday; 9:00am - 5:00pm)
    • Scholarship recipient must set-up & clean up the venue (ACT can provide set-up & clean up at a $150 fee)
    • Basic janitorial provided (emptying trash cans, vaccum, etc.)
    • Basic furniture provided
    • Linens NOT provided
    • Equipment that is already in the room provided
    • Wi-Fi provided
    • Event Manager NOT provided
    • Scholarship recipient may not use technical elements that require IA Crew operation (theatrical lighting equipment, lightboards, etc)
    • ACT can provide certain technical equipment (that does NOT require IA Crew operation) such as a projector at a discounted rate
    • All technical assistance must be requested in advance - last minute requests are not allowed
    • Scholarship recipient must provide greeters in the main lobby to provide directions to the event area
    • If event is open to public, please consider the partial scholarship.

    Partial Scholarship

    Venue is free, organization is charged for labor – 10 available per year.

    • 25% - 75% Scholarship (Venue is Free; Labor is Charged at Cost)
    • Scholarship applicable for up to 5 Event Dates
    • Scholarship recipient may request technical elements at a discounted rate
    • At cost, we will provide an Event Manager for set-up & clean up
    • At cost, we will provide greeters for the main loby
    • At cost, we will provide IA Theatrical crew for events with technical elements
    • Basic janitorial provided (emptying trash cans, vaccum, etc.)
    • Basic furniture provided
    • Linens provided
    • Equipment that is already in the room provided
    • Wi-Fi provided (to scholarship recipients, not to general attendees)

    How to Apply

    Please complete the following form and provide proof of 501(c)3 organization status.

    Scholarships are processed twice a year.
    ACT's Event Scholarship Committee accepts applications:

    • October through December for events in the following year
      (i.e. an application submited in Nov. 2019 can be for any time in 2020)
    • April through June for events in the second half of the year
      (i.e. an application submited in May 2020 can be for any time after June 2020)

    Awardees will be notified in January and July, respectively.

    We will notify you if your requested dates or venue are unavailable. You will then have the option to make adjustments. Recipients will receive a statement of value for their scholarship and an invoice for any charges incurred.

    Scholarship Rules and Regulations:

    Unless paying for labor, Scholarship usage is limited to times when the building is already in use. Scholarship recipients are required to provide a certificate of insurance and sign a contract that includes liability for damages and excessive janitorial needs. Scholarship recipients are required to provide the following information and feedback for use in ACT grant processes:

    • Mission of non-profit and how it benefits the community
    • Summary of Event and how it supports your mission
    • # of attendees
    • The diversity makeup of your members/community
    • Summary of how ACT’s space helps to contribute to your mission
    • Photos of the event

    Info is due w/in 30 days of event completion. If using the same info for multiple events, please submit after the first event. Failing to supply the above information may affect the potential for further scholarships. ACT reserves the right to revoke scholarships at our discretion.

    Depending on your scholarship structure, you may be responsible for setting up and breaking down your space. You are liable for any damage incurred during this process. You are responsible for receiving and setting up any deliveries, food or otherwise.

    If serving liquor, you will need to be able to provide a certificate of liability insurance in addition to complying with our Catering/Liquor Contract.

    If serving food, you will need to comply with our catering/liquor contract.
    Infractions of rules and regulations may disqualify recipient from further scholarships.

    PLEASE NOTE
    The following dates are not available for scholarship rentals:

    • MARCH 9 - 16, 2020
    • AUGUST 31 - SEPTEMBER 6, 2020
  • If selected, you will be asked for documentation of 501(c)3 status.

    Likewise, all correspondence and award agreements will be generated from the personal information submitted below. So, please use proper spelling, capitalization and punctuation.
