Guidelines for SPEA Strike Hardship Fund

The purpose of the SPEA Strike Hardship Fund is to provide limited financial assistance to South Park educators who actively participate in the strike. This fund is intended to provide support for educators who face severe financial hardship; this fund is not intended to make up for loss of wages due to the strike.

The fund will provide grants to eligible educators who are experiencing a hardship and who request assistance. The full amount of each request may be granted in full or in part, depending upon the number of applicants and available resources.

  • Awarding Grants

In order to maintain neutrality in determining disbursement of hardship grants, a Strike Hardship Fund Team will be appointed by the SPEA President and approved by the bargaining team to review the grant requests. The Strike Hardship Fund Team shall solicit, accept, review, and make a final decision on all applications. Application forms shall be available through email and at speastrong.com. Grants shall be awarded based upon the degree of hardship and the availability of funds. The amount of the grant shall be determined by the Strike Hardship Fund Team.

    Confidentiality

All information obtained from each applicant shall be treated confidentially, including the identity of applicants or grantees.

    Separability

The SPEA Strike Hardship Fund shall be separate from the SPEA general budget. During the contract crisis, the Strike Hardship Assistance Fund shall only be used for strike related hardships to educators.
