Terms and conditions of the contract:
The breeder may terminate the contract at any point they feel a family is not fit for a puppy. Buyers are expected to have a considerable amount of knowledge about the breed before purchase. We reserve the right to refuse puppy sales to anyone at any time for any reason!
Note: Willow Ridge Kennel has the option of first pick(s) of the litter at any time of male or female.
The Buyer agrees that the puppy will NOT be left alone in the backyard or kennel only. The Buyer agrees that the puppy will reside inside the home of the Buyer, and not be chained or “tied out”. This animal is sold with the understanding that it is to go to select homes, socialize properly, and become a member of the family.
Puppy Preferences:
Longhair Weimaraners will NOT have their tails docked or dewclaws removed. Shorthair Weimaraners and Vizslas will have tails docked and dewclaws removed. Wirehaired Vizslas will have tails docked but will keep their dewclaws.
Wirehaired Vizslas have a variety of coat types. We do not guarantee the type of coat a puppy will have. It can take 2-3 years for Wirehaired Vizslas to get their wires if they acquire wirehair. Some WHV do stay smooth for life.
Return Of Dog:
If at any time you feel your pup no longer fits in with your family and lifestyle, please return the puppy to the breeder where we will provide proper placement. Under no circumstances should a puppy be sold, transferred, or surrendered to an animal control facility, shelter, or rescue. No cash refunds will be given for their return. Failure to return the puppy to the seller will result in prosecution a $5,000 fine + any fees or money spent to get the dog back or placed in an appropriate home.
HEALTH
At 8 weeks of age the pups are ready to leave our home and join their new family. We know we have done our best in raising your new family member and we back our puppies with these comprehensive guarantees.
General Health Guarantee - 3 days your new puppy is warranted to be in good health and has been given their first set of vaccinations, has been
dewormed and has had a health check by a licensed veterinarian.
Although Epilepsy is common in the breeds we cannot guarantee against it as there is currently no screening test to determine the normal, carrier, and affected status, to allow breeders the potential to eliminate epilepsy from breeding stock.
**Please be advised that a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) can also be a common issue with these breeds during puppyhood.
[1] GENERAL HEALTH
If your veterinarian states that your puppy has any problem that makes it a poor health risk (this does not include the presence of external parasites such as fleas, ticks, lice, mites, mange, etc. or internal parasites such as roundworms, whipworms, hookworms, tapeworms, giardia, coccidia, poisoning, reproductive problems, accidents, vaccine or medicine-related reactions, umbilical hernias, undescended testicles, UTI's, lack of veterinary care, veterinary error, lack of training, or behavioral problems.), you may, within 3 days of purchase, return the puppy (along with any registration papers and all materials) for a full refund. A written, signed, and dated statement from your veterinarian is required detailing the description of symptoms supporting his/her opinion and an explanation as to why this puppy would be a poor health risk. This exam and all associated costs are the buyer’s responsibility. Please note that this is 3 days from when the pup leaves our premises.
It is understood that no cash refunds will be guaranteed and we will not be responsible for ANY vet expense or diagnostic testing for any reason. We reserve the right to have a second option obtained from another veterinarian of our choosing. If a puppy should die before the extent of this guarantee a necropsy must be performed within 24 hours of the puppy’s passing to determine the cause.
If a currently licensed veterinarian finds a life-threatening health disease within 3 days of purchase, the breeder must be notified immediately (within 24 hours) by the customer with the conclusion of the veterinarian's findings. A certified letter is to be sent to the breeder by the veterinarian within 24 hours of the diagnosis. The unhealthy puppy must be returned within 3 business days for a replacement. If you refuse to provide proof of or cannot provide proof from a veterinarian, or do not return the unhealthy puppy the guarantee will be void.
Willow Ridge is not obligated to exercise this section of the contract if we believe that the puppy is the victim of an accident or has been abused.
Willow Ridge will not be responsible for any travel/shipping expenses, either for receiving a replacement puppy or returning an unhealthy puppy. It is understood that no cash refunds will be given & we will not be responsible for ANY vet expense or diagnostic testing for any reason; including spaying/neutering. The breeder reserves the right to a second opinion to be obtained from a veterinarian of the breeder’s choice. If documentation from the veterinarian is received a life-threatening health disease is verified, and the puppy is returned, then a replacement puppy will be given to replace the above-purchased puppy. The replacement puppy will be the breeder’s choice of current stock or expected litters.
We cannot warranty any other health issues not found within the 3-day warranty above!
The dog shall NOT be put to sleep due to genetic health or behavioral issues within this warranty without the seller’s written consent.
The seller does not assume responsibility for any other veterinary bills or other expenses incurred by the purchaser on behalf of the dog after the dog has left the kennel.
The Buyer agrees to maintain preventative health care of the puppy including, but not limited to: inoculations, internal as well as external parasites, and heartworm preventative medication. Buyer also agrees to feed a good quality dog food on which a list has been provided with suggested dog foods. In the event a Buyer exercises return rights, all documentation that the above maintenance has been performed must be provided to the Seller.
The Buyer agrees to maintain preventative care of the puppy regarding hip dysplasia, such as proper nutrition, proper exercise, and preventing stress injuries (i.e. not allowing the puppy to jump from heights taller than itself at the shoulder, no forced exercise such as running long distances, until at least 18 months of age.)
The buyer further understands that this puppy is not being sold with a guarantee against Canine Hip Dysplasia, as the condition can be caused by environmental situations that are not within the control of the seller once the buyer assumes possession. The breeder to the best of their ability has health-tested parents and bred to lower the chance of CHD in our puppies.
Vaccinations: A medical record of deworming and vaccines will be provided for each puppy. It is understood that puppies will receive their first round of parvo/distemper but they will not be fully vaccinated by 8 weeks of age. Buyer agrees to maintain preventive care against contagious diseases until the puppy is fully vaccinated. The Vizsla Club of America and Weimaraner Club of America have established a special protocol for vaccinating puppies due to immuno-deficiency problems in this breed.
6 weeks: Neopar-Parvo
8 weeks: Canine Distemper and Parvovirus
12 weeks: Canine Distemper and Parvovirus
15–16 weeks: An antibody titer is recommended to confirm immunity since a small proportion of puppies may still not be covered.
Puppies showing no evidence of antibody production in the titer should be re–inoculated.
The use of NON-CORE vaccines such as Corona, Leptospirosis, Bordetella, Lyme, etc. are not recommended unless these diseases are prevalent in the area; and should Never be administered along with the CORE vaccines listed above, but rather separately, and at a time when the pup’s immune system is mature. Rabies should be administered by law.
Buyers agree to have their veterinarian administer a series of vaccinations for parvo/distemper, rabies, and other recommended vaccinations. If the series is not continued and strictly administered using the protocol as outlined, the health guarantee described above shall become null and void. We do not guarantee against overvaccination.
Breeding: This puppy has been sold as a pet/companion dog; Willow Ridge Kennel does not sell brood bitches or stud dogs. The Buyer agrees to have the puppy spayed/neutered NO EARLIER than 18 months of age and provide the Seller with verification of such.
The breeder requires the puppy to be spayed/neutered NO EARLIER than 18 months old. Buyer understands that failure to comply with these recommendations shall Null and Void any health warranties provided by Breeder.
Limited AKC registration will only be given to performance homes, never to be used for breeding purposes, and to be spayed or neutered at 18 months of age and no earlier. Limited registration restricts any placement in conformation shows or breeding. It does allow any placements into hunt and field tests, earth dog, tracking, agility, companion dogs, etc. The health guarantee does not guarantee against belly button hernia, cryptorchidism, dew claw re-growth, or under or over-bite with this type of registration. With this type of registration proof of spay or neuter does need to be provided from a certified veterinarian by age two.
NUVET: Please note that NuVet Plus supplements are required as part of your pet’s Health Guarantee; please administer NuVet Plus supplements daily to said puppy. Purchases of vitamins will be tracked by NuVet Labs. Please use Seller ID #12757
Shipping & Pick Up: Please note we only ship pups in cargo as a last resort. If your puppy must be transported with a USDA ground shipper or Flight Nanny it is up to you as the buyer to arrange and pay costs associated with that. There will be a $50.00 fee to cover the extra certificate needed for puppies to be shipped via ground or fly-in cabin. We can also meet you at Louisville International Airport with your puppy for an extra fee of 400 as this is a 4-hour roundtrip for us to do. Payments must be made in full before puppies can be shipped. If payments are not made in full on puppies being delivered 1 week prior we cannot ship your puppy.
Willow Ridge works closely with NEW HOLMES PET EXPRESS on hand delivery of pups to new homes. Please let us know if you will need this service.
Any puppy not picked up on the agreed upon pick up date or any puppy not paid for in full by delivery will be sold resulting in forfeiture of your deposit and any monies paid up to that date.
Legal: By signing below, I agree to these terms and conditions. I also understand that this document shall be enforceable in any court of law and any legal ramifications will take place in the state of Kentucky. This document shall be kept, with my signature, address, and phone number, on file with Willow Ridge Kennel and a copy has been provided to me.
BUYERS acknowledge that the seller has a vested interest in the puppy throughout its lifetime and SELLER has to the best of their ability, placed the puppy in a home that matches the buyer's needs and requirements with the breed and the temperament of this puppy.
This Agreement is made and signed by both parties to ensure the well-being and protection of this animal. If any part of this Agreement is breached, the Seller is released from any further obligations hereunder. Should the Seller need to seek legal action against the Buyer for violations of this Agreement, the Buyer will assume any attorney costs and court fees.
