    NextGen 2019 is a leadership program dedicated to developing the career potential of exceptional mid-level staff in the museum field. For more information, please visit our website.

    You have been asked to provide a confidential letter of recommendation. Your letter will be used only in connection with our selection process, and no reference will be made to it after a decision has been made. Our selection process pays particular attention to the information provided by individuals with firsthand knowledge of the nominee. To the extent that it is possible, please consider the points listed below in your letter; they may be addressed in whatever order or format you feel is most appropriate. We also welcome any further comments you may wish to offer.

    We recommend that you write your letter of reference in Microsoft Word and then copy and paste into the area below. Please note that GLI may contact you for additional information.     • Discuss the candidate’s demonstrated critical thinking, initiative, innovative practice, and leadership.


    • Comment on the candidate’s growth potential, insights into his or her strengths and weaknesses, and motivation to attend NextGen 2019.


    • Assess the candidate’s commitment to the museum field.


    • Discuss the candidate’s willingness to engage others, work collaboratively, and explore new ideas.


    • Provide an example of how the candidate pushed himself/herself, their colleagues, or you in an unanticipated way to benefit the organization or field.


    • How do you anticipate the candidate’s participation in NextGen 2019 will benefit his or her institution or the field?
