  • Bio for PIER Chair-Elect Nominee: Lucas Olson

"I currently work as an International Student Advisor and SEVIS Coordinator at San Diego State University, where I have been for about two and a half years. At SDSU, I am on a team that advises our almost 3,000 F-1 and J-1 international students on a variety of immigration, academic, cultural, and personal topics. As the SEVIS Coordinator, I am also responsible for SEVIS registration, keeping up-to-date on reporting requirements, and batch issues. Prior to SDSU, I worked for a year as an International Student Advisor at Stanford University and graduated with an M.A. in International Education Management from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, CA. I have been an international student myself several times and have spent about five years outside the US, most recently as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ukraine. I'm interested in joining the PIER Board because I want to expand my work and experience outside the SDSU community as well as contribute to the group. I believe it's a very valuable resource for us here in San Diego that allows us to communicate and learn from one another. I hope to be a bigger part of it. Thanks!"
