  • LONE TREE STAFF STANDARD OF CONDUCT

1st Corinthians 10:23 Christian Liberty: "Everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible, but not everything is constructive. Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others."

1st Corinthians 10:31 Christian Example: "So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it ALL for the glory of God. Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jew, Greek, or the church of God - even as I (Paul) try to please everybody in everyway. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved. Follow my example as I follow Christ."

The following are listed only as a guide to help ensure the smooth, safe operation of the camp program, and to maintain a Christ-like community within our full time and summer staff. It is in no way complete since there will be times and areas where you will have to practice your own Christian Liberty and say "no" to some things even if you feel they are not wrong. More complete guidelines are explained in each camp's Staff Handbook which you may request prior to employment.

No fireworks (because of the dry conditions).

    No guns or hunting.

No dogs / cats or pets (except for full time staff and must be approved by the Camp Director prior to your arrival).

No chewing tobacco or smoking of any kind.
On movies: Remember that you represent the Lord and the camp. Please use care in the selection of the movies you see.
On dating: Remember why you are here this summer - for ministry. Although a ministry is a great place to meet others of the opposite sex, serious relationships can hinder the quality and quantity of time that you should be spending with your campers and other staff members. Dating among summer staff is strongly discouraged. Staff members who are unable to handle their responsibilities due to a relationship will have their contract terminated and be asked to leave.
No alcoholic beverages of any kind.
No loaning of vehicles or money. This keeps any staff disputes to a minimum.
No profane language, fighting, loss of temper, or impatience with camp guests.
Radios are permitted as long as they are not heard outside of staff housing and you are not disturbing your room-mates. If you do listen to secular music, please use headphones so you do not offend your roommates. Radios are not permitted in camper housing as we are trying to promote a natural setting.
No staff other than kitchen staff or those having business in food service are allowed in the kitchen.
Please do not leave the camp property unless: a. Your responsibilities are fully completed or covered. b. You have notified the Director or person in charge.
To avoid burnout, make sure you are getting sufficient rest on the weekends and spending quality time with the Lord each day.
Absolutely no guys in the girl's dorm and no girls in the guy's dorm.

On appearance: Please dress with Christian modesty as a representative of Christ. Be aware of your camp’s policy on hairstyles, jewelry/piercing and tattoos. ALL TATTOOS MUST BE COVERED WHILE CAMPERS ARE ON THE PROPERTY.

All staff are required to be at all morning devotions and staff meetings on time unless approved duty conflicts.

Staff members are subject to dismissal when the Camp Director determines that his/her conduct or attitude is detrimental to the campers, staff or camp.
  • Statement of Faith

  •

    We believe in:
The Divine Inspiration and consequent authority of the whole canonical Scriptures; the fulfillment of its prophecies and the reliability of its promises. (II Peter 1:20-21; II Timothy 3:16-17)
The Doctrine of the Trinity: One God, able to reveal Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (John 14:16-17; Matthew 28:19)
The Fall of man through the working of Satan (who is a created being and the enemy of God); his consequent moral depravity; his need of regeneration; the resurrection of the body, both the just and the unjust; the eternal life of the saved in Heaven and eternal punishment of the lost. (Romans 5:12; 6:23; Genesis 1:16)
The Atonement through the substitutionary death, shed blood, and physical resurrection of the virgin born, True-God, True-Man, Jesus the Christ. (Romans 5:8-9)
The Doctrine of Justification by Faith through God's grace. (Romans 3:21-26; John 1:12)
The personal, "At any moment" return of Jesus Christ to catch up the redeemed to be with Himself. (Acts 1:11; I Thessalonians 4:16-17)
The indwelling of the Holy Spirit the moment a person accepts Jesus Christ as personal savior. (Romans 8:9, 11,13,14)
The bestowing of Spiritual Gifts on the member of the body (the Church) as God sovereignly deems it best. Such gifts are for the edification of the whole body, not merely for the enjoyment or enrichment of the individual members possessing them. (1 Peter 4:10-11; Ephesians 4:11-13; Romans 12:3-8; I Corinthians 12, 14)
No particular gift, including speaking in tongues (which were unlearned languages; Acts 2:4-12) is a necessary sign of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit nor a sign of spirituality. We are not directed to seek any certain gift, but we are to desire the greater gifts. (I Corinthians 12:27-31)
  • Lone Tree Staff Support System

  • Our main objective at Lone Tree is to provide a unique camping experience in which we are able to share the Gospel with young people and encourage them in their Christian growth.
Since it is our desire to provide a quality program, comfortable facilities, and exciting activities, the cost becomes quite expensive. It is also our wish that a person would not be prevented from coming to camp because of a high camp fee. We have been able to accomplish this by underwriting 1/3 of our entire budget. God has graciously met our needs and supplied the needed funds through service and staff raising their financial support. All full time staff raise support, as do summer staff. The Lone Tree system emphasizes trusting God for His provision.
On the chart below is the pay scale for summer staff. Your expenses at camp will be minimal, consisting of laundry and approximately four meals eaten in town each week (depending on the camp) when the camp kitchen is closed. The scale is based upon age, responsibilities, and number of years on Lone Tree Staff. To figure out how much you need to raise, simply multiply the amount which applies to you times 11 (number of weeks at camp) plus $100.00 for staff training. All donations are made to Lone Tree Inc. for Tax purposes. The monies you raise will then go into the staff support fund and you are paid out of the fund along with the rest of the summer staff. Lone Tree will assist you in raising funds by providing sample letters, ideas, brochures, and other helps. The key to raising support is to let your need be known to as many people as possible and to start at least four months before summer camp (if possible).
We encourage our staff to write to their supporters often and inform them of what they are doing and learning. If accepted, you will come to Lone Tree as part of a summer ministry team to counsel and minister to others. In addition to raising up people to support you financially, you will also encourage them to pray for you regularly.
We trust that your summer at Lone Tree will be one of tremendous growth. The experiences and principles that you will learn will help prepare you for a more fruitful and rewarding life.
