  • Pique Assiette Memory Vessel Mosaic Class 2014

  • Class Overview:

Chances are you've seen smashingly beautiful and creative examples of pique-assiette, even if you can't say the word or have never heard it. Pique-assiette, which means "plate-stealer" in French and is pronounced PEEK ah-see-EHT, is the craft of taking broken plates and tiles and reusing the shards to create a new mosaic pattern on a wall or an existing object such as a flowerpot, garden stone, birdbath or dresser. Pique assiette is a process of making mosaics that allows students to include found and collected objects from their personal lives and from the environment as well as traditional mosaic materials such as tile, glass and stone. Students are encouraged to bring plates, mugs, heirlooms, dishes and other bric-a-brac to include in a personalized piece of art. A great selection of materials will be also provided. An assortment of memory vessels/vases will be available, but your welcome to bring your own if have a favorite.
