  • Thank you for your interest in Thinware vBackup. Please read the following before continuing with your request.

Although free, Thinware vBackup Standard Edition licenses are not trial licenses. Upon completing this request you will be issued a non-expiring, perpetual license for Thinware vBackup Standard Edition.

If you would like to try Thinware vBackup unrestricted for 30 days click here. Unlike Standard Edition licenses which are limited to Standard Edition features, trial licenses are unrestricted and will allow you to try all available features and functionality.

Also, in an effort to best allocate customer support resources and to keep the cost of our products low for everyone we are unable to process Thinware vBackup Standard Edition license requests with incomplete or inaccurate information. Please consider this when completing your request.

Please allow 24 to 72 hours (1 to 3 business days) to receive your Standard Edition (free) licenses. Trial requests require less information from you, are much simpler to process and are usually fulfilled in within 8 to 12 hours (same business day).

A backup server is the machine where Thinware vBackup is installed. If you need licensing for more than 1 instance of Thinware vBackup (if you have more than one backup server), simply provide the server name, hardware ID and and the quantity of Standard Edition entitlements to assign for each in the special license configuration instructions below.

VERY IMPORTANT: Licenses for Thinware vBackup are based on the hardware ID of the backup server. This information is required for our Sales Team to generate the license.

To obtain the hardware ID of the backup server, download and install Thinware vBackup (a license is not required to download and install Thinware vBackup), open Thinware vBackup Client and choose Configure Licensing from the Tools menu. The hardware ID is displayed at the bottom of the Configure Licensing screen. Please note that this feature is only available in Thinware vBackup version 4.0 or later.

  • About Thinware vBackup

Thinware vBackup is a tool that helps automate multiple (often no cost) utilities from VMware. These utilities, including but not limited to VMware Virtual Disk Development Kit, VMware Consolidated Backup, VMware vCenter Converter Standalone, VMware Workstation, VMware Player, etc. are developed, managed and supported exclusively by VMware. Thinware has no control over the functionality or continued availability of these utilities. Before implementing, you need to understand the requirements, know issues and how to troubleshoot problems with the VMware utilities you will be using Thinware vBackup to automate. A lack of experience with or knowledge of these utilities can cause undue system outages or data loss and will most likely result in a poor user experience with our product.

Bottom line: our goal is to help. PLEASE make use of our trial options, test and retest thoroughly.

    Order Fulfillment

Once we receive your order we will generate and send licenses to the technical contact you provided.

Licenses will be generated according to the configuration indicated in your order. If you have more than one backup server, please be sure to complete the special license configuration instructions to ensure your licenses are configured properly.
