The Breakthrough to Nursing (BTN) Project monthly award is to encourage students to participate in service projects in their school and in the community. Monthly awards are from September 2018 to March 2019 in the amount of $100 each will be made to the winning school chapter. These awards are in addition to the traditional BTN Awards presented at the Annual NSNA Convention. The BTN Committee goal is to increase BTN involvement as well as to increase social media to promote BTN.
From September 2018 to March 2019, NSNA members and chapters may submit a photo, essay, service, or social media project addressing the following themes:
Theme: Suicide Awareness
Resolution: IN SUPPORT OF INCREASING AWARENESS OF SUICIDE INCIDENCE AND PREVENTION STRATEGIES FOR CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS

Theme: Unity Through Service

Theme: Older Adult Population
Resolution: IN SUPPORT OF ADDRESSING ATTITUDES TOWARD THE OLDER ADULT POPULATION

Theme: Cultural Competent Care
Resolution: IN SUPPORT OF INCREASED EDUCATION AND AWARENES CONCERNING THE NEED FOR CULTURALLY-COMPETENT NURSING CARE

Theme: Importance of (Testicular and Breast) Self-Examination
Resolution: TO INCREASE AWARENESS AND EDUCATION ABOUT BREAST SELF-EXAMINATION IN ETHNICALLY DIVERSE WOMEN

Theme: Stop the Bleeding (Tourniquet Application)
